Nakléřovská výšina view point

Viewpoint in the eastern Ore Mountains with a view over the Bohemian Basin

The 704 meter high Nollendorfer Höhe (Nakléřovská výšina) is located in the immediate vicinity of the Nollendorfer Pass, the easternmost mountain pass in the Erzegbirge, which once had important traffic significance due to its location on the old Dresden-Teplitzer Poststraße. The location became famous through the Napoleonic Wars of Liberation and the Battle of Kulm in 1813, which, according to legend, Napoleon is said to have watched from the view. After the end of the war in 1945 and the withdrawal of the German population, only a few buildings remained of the town of Nakléřov (Nollendorf, namesake of Berlin's Nollendorplatz) . The observation tower that once stood on the Nollendorfer Höhe was badly damaged in 1944 and demolished in the post-war years.

From the viewpoint you have a fantastic view over the Bohemian Basin and the Czech Ore Mountains foothills. The nearby U Johnů restaurant on the pass road invites you to take a break while hiking.
